Muscle tear: we take care of your whole recovery

A muscle tear does not heal with rest alone. We guide you with a clear protocol that follows how muscle heals: we protect the tissue while it repairs, load it when it is ready and stay with you until it works like healthy muscle again.

This unit is for you if…

  • You felt a sharp pain or a "stone hit" in the muscle during sport
  • You have been diagnosed with a muscle tear or strain
  • You have bruising or pain when stretching or contracting the muscle
  • It is the second time you have injured the same muscle
  • You want to return to your sport without fear of it happening again

Your recovery, phase by phase

Timeframes are a guide and depend on the muscle and the grade of injury. You move on when the tissue and the tests allow, not by the calendar.

First days

Protection

  • Assessment and ultrasound to see the size and location of the injury
  • Control pain and bruising without full immobilisation
  • Gentle, pain-free movement from the start

To move on to the next phase

You can walk and contract the muscle without severe pain

Frequently asked questions

How long does a muscle tear take to heal?

It depends on the muscle and the grade. A small injury can resolve in a few weeks and a larger one may need two or three months. After the ultrasound we give you an estimate.

Do I need complete rest?

Only for a few days, and not complete. Muscle heals better with controlled movement and loading from the start.

Why do muscle tears come back?

Mostly from returning too early or without regaining strength. That is why we discharge with tests, not by the calendar.

When should I come in?

As soon as possible after the injury. The sooner we start, the better we can guide healing.
